Introducing Photo Studio: Every Vehicle on the Same Background, In One Go

Walk onto any independent forecourt on a Tuesday morning and you will see how vehicle photos actually get taken. The car is wherever it was parked when it came back from valeting. There is a wheelie bin two spaces over. Someone’s van is in the background. The sky is that particular shade of British grey that makes silver look like primer.

Nobody is doing anything wrong. That is just what the job looks like when you have five cars to prep, a customer arriving at eleven, and a phone that will not stop.

The trouble is what it adds up to. Look at fifty listings on a dealer website, all shot in different corners of the yard on different days in different weather, and nothing looks like it belongs to the same business. Individually the photos are fine. Together they look untidy.

The usual fix is to edit the photos, one at a time. Which nobody has time for. So most dealers publish what the camera gave them and move on.

Photo Studio is our answer to that, and the thing that makes it different is right there in the first sentence: it works across your whole forecourt at once.

What it does

Photo Studio puts every vehicle in your stock on the same clean background, in one go, without anyone editing photos by hand.

Not one car at a time. Not a queue of jobs you tick off over a fortnight. You open it, you see your entire stock list, you select what you want, you pick the background, and you leave it to get on with it.

That is the whole idea. Everything else in this post is detail around it.

How you actually use it

1. Pick the photos. Photo Studio opens on your full stock, not on a single vehicle. Tick a whole vehicle to take all of its photos, tick a few vehicles, tick the lot, or search for one in particular. If you have just taken delivery of six cars, you select those six and you are done choosing.

2. Choose a look. A look is a background plus the way the vehicle sits on it. You set one up once and reuse it forever. More on looks below, because they are the part that saves you the most bother in the long run.

3. Let it work. The photos are prepared in the background. You can close the page, deal with a customer, and come back to it. It is not instant, and we are not going to pretend it is - separating a vehicle from a cluttered forecourt properly takes a moment. But it happens without you sitting there watching it.

4. Review, then publish. Nothing changes on your website until you say so. You get a review screen showing every result next to the original, and you choose which ones go live.

Why “in one go” is the point

This is worth dwelling on, because it is the difference between a feature you use once and a feature you use every week.

Most tools that do this sort of thing work on one vehicle at a time. Open the car, pick the background, wait, save, close, open the next car. If you have sixty vehicles in stock, you are making the same set of choices sixty times. Realistically, you do fifteen of them, get bored, and the other forty-five stay as they were. Now your listings are inconsistent in a new and slightly worse way.

Photo Studio is built the other way round. One selection, one look, one click. The consistency is a by-product of how the tool works rather than something you have to maintain by hand.

Looks: your house style, set up once

A look is a saved combination of:

  • the background, chosen from a library
  • where the vehicle sits on it and how large it appears
  • the shadow it casts, and how it reflects on the floor
  • how strongly the lighting is matched to the scene
  • whether your logo is stamped on the photo

Here is the important bit: most dealers will pick a background and never touch anything else. Everything beyond the background is already set to what suits that particular scene, so a look that nobody adjusts still comes out right. The finer controls exist for the dealers who want to fiddle, and they are folded away for everyone else.

Looks get saved and named. So “our house style” becomes one click on every vehicle that arrives from then on. That is the bit that pays off in month three, not week one.

Change your mind as often as you like

The expensive part of this job is separating the vehicle from its background. Photo Studio does that once per photo and keeps the result.

Which means that after the first pass, trying a different background costs you nothing at all, however many times you change your mind.

You can put your fifty vehicles on a clean forecourt, decide it is a bit plain, try a showroom, decide that looks too showroom-y for a family independent, try a city street, and go back to the forecourt. Same fifty vehicles, four different house styles tried, and only the first pass counted against your allowance.

I would encourage you to actually do this when you first set it up. Pick three candidate looks, run them on a handful of representative cars, and look at them side by side on your own website rather than in the editor. You will know within a minute which one suits your stock.

Nothing goes live by accident

Two safeguards, and they matter more than they sound.

The review screen. Results sit there until you publish them. Every one is shown against its original, so you are comparing rather than guessing. You pick which to use and which to leave out.

Anything you publish can be undone. The original photo is kept. If a customer mentions that the Focus looks odd, or you simply prefer the forecourt shot on one particular car, you put the original back and that is the end of it.

There is also a flag for doubtful results. If a photo has come out badly, it gets marked so you look at that one properly. You are not left checking all fifty by eye to find the one that went wrong.

It is not just cars

Vans, pickups and estates are recognised and sized correctly. That matters if half your stock is commercial, because a tool that only understands hatchback proportions will place a Transit badly and you will notice immediately.

Where it sits in your day

Photo Studio is part of the dealer management system, not a separate app to log into. From any vehicle’s photos there is an Edit in Photo Studio button that opens the studio on that vehicle, with a way back to where you were.

So there are two natural ways to use it. Bulk, when you are setting up your house style or catching up on stock that predates it. And one-at-a-time, from the vehicle you happen to be working on, when a car arrives and you want its photos tidied before it goes live.

Plans and allowances

Photo Studio is part of the paid plans, which start at £49 per month. Each plan includes an allowance of prepared photos every month, and the allowance scales as you move up the plans.

If a selection would take you past your allowance, you are told first, and offered the option to do just the photos your allowance covers. Nobody is charged for anything without agreeing to it. You can see the full breakdown on the pricing page.

And to say it once more, because it is the part dealers do not expect: restyling a photo that has already been prepared does not count again. The allowance covers preparation, not experimentation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I do my whole stock at once?

Yes. That is what it is built for. Photo Studio opens on your full stock list and you can select as many vehicles as you like in one go, subject to your monthly allowance.

How long does it take?

It depends on how many photos you have selected. It runs in the background, so you can leave the page and come back. You are not sitting waiting on a progress bar.

Will it publish anything without me checking?

No. Results wait in a review screen and go live only when you publish them.

Can I get my original photos back?

Yes. Originals are kept, so you can revert any published photo at any time.

Does it work on vans?

Yes. Vans, pickups and estates are recognised and sized correctly, not squeezed into car-shaped proportions.

How is this different from AI background replacement?

AI background replacement is the single-photo version, applied to one vehicle as you list it. Photo Studio is the same underlying capability built for your whole forecourt, with saved looks, a review step, and free restyling once a photo is prepared. If you already use background replacement, Photo Studio is where you go when you want the whole stock list to match.

What if a photo comes out badly?

It gets flagged in the review screen so you look at that one properly before publishing. You do not have to inspect every result to find the odd one out.

Getting started

If you are already on a paid Vehiso plan, Photo Studio is in your dealer management system now. Open it, select five cars you know well, and try two or three backgrounds on them. Ten minutes will tell you more than any amount of reading.

If you are not on Vehiso yet, you can see how it fits alongside the dealer website and the rest of the AI tools.
